How to Repair RV Water Lines
You will be repairing mostly freeze-damaged pipes, so first step is to completely thaw the water lines. If you
are fortunate, it is a quick freeze, and daytime temperatures will do the work for you. Otherwise, options
would be a garage, space heater, or you can do it with an electric hair dryer. Once the line are clear you
should check for damaged lines.
1. Take a squirt trigger bottle and fill with a mix of dish detergent and water. Use approx 2 tablespoons of
detergent. You can also use this mix to check for tire leaks.
2. Using an air compressor connect to exterior water line and pressurize the line with air, 20 to 25 lbs. You
can purchase adapters that will allow you to pressurize the lines at any hardware or RV store.
3. Spray soapy water on suspected leaks. Watch for bubbling action, and there is your leak. Replace line
or section of line to repair.
